Facet Analytical Theory in Managing Knowledge Structure for Humanities

"FATHUM is a faceted classification designed to accommodate the humanities and was developed for the FATKS project (http://www.ucl.ac.uk/fatks). During this one year project, the following parts of the humanities vocabulary were developed: broad knowledge classification (300 concepts); generally applicable concepts (3000 concepts); religion (2200 concepts); the arts (300 terms). A contextual subject alphabetical index (chain index) contains 9300 entries. The classification is designed so that concepts can be freely combined in the process of indexing."
