PRISME Thesaurus

"This thesaurus, the implementation of which was envisaged at the first meetings of the" GREDIN "group, was developed during the working sessions which took place from 1976 and which benefited from the participation of a very large number Librarians and documentalists in the social and medico-social sector, in order to take into account the entries of the different vocabularies used within the organizations in their diversities and their disciplinary, administrative and ideological specificities.

Once the choices of terms chosen as descriptors and "synonyms" have been made, a small group with the identity of "Commission Documentary Language" has attached itself to the realization of the thesaurus itself by distributing these lexical units in semantic fields which Group them according to their proximity of meaning and by constructing the different constitutive tables of such languages: list of records, alphabetical list of descriptors, permuted list (KWIC index) and list of descriptors by semantic fields.

This work allowed the creation of a distributed database by harmonizing not only the format of the records of the references entered by each documentalist of the network, but also their indexing, the adoption of a standardized vocabulary considerably reducing the risk of dispersion Information on different concepts but designating objects or principles that are very close to each other. "

"Ce thésaurus dont la réalisation avait été envisagée dès les premières rencontres du groupe "GREDIN" a été mis au point au fil de séances de travail qui se sont déroulées à partir de 1976 et qui ont bénéficié de la participation d'un très grand nombre de bibliothécaires et documentalistes du secteur social et médico-social, afin de prendre en compte les entrées des différents vocabulaires utilisés au sein des organismes dans leurs diversités et leurs spécificités disciplinaire, administrative et idéologique.

Une fois faits les choix des termes retenus comme descripteurs et comme "synonymes", un groupe restreint ayant l'identité de "Commission Langage documentaire" s'est attaché à la réalisation du thésaurus proprement dit en répartissant ces unités lexicales dans des champs sémantiques qui les regroupent en fonction de leur proximité de sens et en construisant les différentes tables constitutives des langages de ce type : liste des notices, liste alphabétique des descripteurs, liste permutée (index KWIC) et liste des descripteurs par champs sémantiques.

Ce travail a permis la réalisation d'une base de données répartie en harmonisant non seulement le format des enregistrements des références saisies par chacun des documentalistes du réseau, mais aussi leur indexation, l'adoption d'un vocabulaire normalisé réduisant considérablement le risque de dispersion de l'information sur des concepts différents mais désignant des objets ou des principes très proches les uns des autres."
