South Korea's Village Belief: Chungcheongbuk-do (Polk Religion of Villages in Korea - Chungcheongbuk-do)

The National Folk Museum of Korea is responsible for conducting folk surveys that publicly and diachronically discover and identify the origins and transmission of folklore that make up our lives from traditional society to modern society, and at the same time, it is in charge of transmitting them. As one of these folk research projects, the whole country, including Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon, Gyeongsang, Jeolla, Chungcheong, Gangwon, and Jeju, is divided into six regions from 2022, and a village faith survey is conducted accordingly.

The first survey area in 2022 is the Chungcheon area. The investigation was urgent because the Chungcheon area underwent the biggest change in accordance with the national project of administrative-centered complex city construction.

The result of the 2022 survey on village beliefs by region is the ⌈ Korean Village Faith ⌋ (Chungcheong area) survey report (a total of three volumes). This survey report contains the contents of participatory observation and investigation of village beliefs in the Chungcheong region corresponding to Daejeon Metropolitan City, Sejong Special Self-Governing City, Chungcheongnam-do, and Chungcheongbuk-do conducted in January 2022.

국립민속박물관은 전통사회에서 현대사회까지 우리의 삶을 이루고 있는 민속의 기원과 전승을 공시적•통시적으로 발굴하고 규명하는 민속조사를 실시하는 동시에 전승하는 역할을 담당하고 있다. 이러한 민속조사 사업의 하나로 2022년부터 서울•경기•인천권, 경상권, 전라권, 충청권, 강원권, 제주권 등 전국을 여섯 개의 권역으로 나누고, 그에 따른 권역별 마을신앙 조사를 실시하고 있다.

2022년 첫 번째 조사지역은 충천권역이다. 충천권역은 행정중심복합도시건설이라는 국가적 사업에 따라 가장 큰 변화를 겪었기 때문에 조사가 시급했다.

2022년 권역별 마을신앙 조사의 결과물은 ⌈한국의 마을신앙⌋(충청권) 조사보고서(총 3권)이다. 이 조사보고서에는 2022년 정월에 진행된 대전광역시, 세종특별자치시, 충청남도, 충청북도에 해당하는 충청권역의 마을신앙을 참여관찰하여 조사한 내용을 담고 있다.
