Geology thesaurus

The aim of this work is the creation of a "Thesaurus of Geology" exclusively nourished with terms from the ICYT database of the CSIC. This vocabulary comes from the scientific geological literature in Spanish and obviously does not cover all aspects of geology, which entails important limitations when it comes to prioritising terms and presenting a complete and uniform thesaurus. The purpose of this Thesaurus is to structure the terminology used in the discipline of geology to be used in the ICYT Database as a vocabulary control tool, the dissemination and use of which will help to carry out bibliographic searches and improve the indexing of documents. It is presented in three languages: English, French and Spanish.

El objetivo de este trabajo es la creación de un "Tesauro de Geología" nutrido exclusivamente con los términos procedentes de la Base de Datos ICYT del CSIC. Este vocabulario procede de la literatura geológica científica en español y evidentemente no cubre todos los aspectos de la geología, lo que conlleva importantes limitaciones a la hora de jerarquizar términos y de presentar un tesauro completo y uniforme. La finalidad de este Tesauro es estructurar la terminología utilizada en la disciplina de geología para ser utilizado en la Base de Datos ICYT como instrumento de control de vocabulario, cuya difusión y utilización ayudarán a realizar búsquedas bibliográficas y a mejorar la indización de los documentos. Se presenta en tres idiomas: español, francés e inglés.
