Retrospective classification of medical, scientific, legal and theological prints

"In the 1980s, the Duke August Library made an attempt to retrospectively classify its old holdings. This was based on the system designed by Otto Hartwig (1830-1902) for the library of the University of Halle, but adapted to the Wolfenbüttel collection profile. The classification was carried out for medicine and natural sciences, partly also for theology and law. A card catalogue was created, which was converted into electronic form in the course of the catalogue enrichment."

"In den 80er Jahren unternahm die Herzog August Bibliothek einen Anlauf zur retrospektiven klassifikatorischen Sacherschließung des Altbestandes. Hierbei stützte man sich auf die von Otto Hartwig (1830–1902) für die Bibliothek der Universität Halle entworfene Systematik, passte diese aber an das Wolfenbütteler Bestandsprofil an. Durchgeführt wurde die Erschließung für Medizin und Naturwissenschaften, teilweise auch für Theologie und Recht. Es entstand ein Kartenkatalog, der im Zuge des Catalogue Enrichment in elektronische Form überführt wurde."
