Robot Industry Classification

The Robot Industry Classification (RIC) was established through a joint effort by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Information and Communication, and Statistics Korea, based on the National Science and Technology Commission's designation of the robotics industry as a national strategic industry and the establishment of the "Intelligent Robot Industry Vision and Development Strategy" business plan. This classification system, a special classification system for the robotics industry, a new growth and convergence industry leading the Fourth Industrial Revolution, was created to facilitate the compilation and provision of related national statistics and services. Furthermore, it can establish a statistical infrastructure to support the robotics industry, designated as a national strategic industry, through policy initiatives.

로봇산업분류(Robot Industry Classification)는 국가과학기술위원회에서 국가전략산업으로서 로봇산업을 선정하고 "지능형로봇산업 비전 및 발전전략"사업계획을 수립하므로써 이를 근거로 산업자원부, 정보통신부, 통계청 등이 공동 작업하여 제정되었다. 제4차 산업혁명을 선도하는 신성장ㆍ융복합 산업인 로봇산업 특수분류 체계를 마련하여, 관련 국가통계 작성ㆍ서비스 등에 활용하기위해 작성되었으며, 국가전략산업으로 선정된 로봇산업을 정책적으로 지원하기 위한 통계인프라 구축할 수 있다.
