The Gale Communications Thesaurus is a subset of the master Gale Technology Thesaurus in the narrower domain of voice, data, or both delivered through the air or over wire and cable. It includes communications equipment (satellite dishes, computer networking devices, cabling, transmission equipment, etc.), communications services (long distance phone service, internet access services, messaging services and technologies such as e-mail, instant messaging, voice mail, etc.); and communications technology (technologies, protocols, and standards in use and in development for the transmission, reception, encryption, and compression of any information in any form). All thesaural relationships (BT/NT, RT, USE/UF) are included, and some terms have scope notes. The thesaurus contains 693 preferred terms/concepts (2019) and is continually updated.
