"Die Systematik Bildende Kunst und Architektur gibt die sachliche Ordnung für die Aufstellung des frei zugänglichen (= 'Freihand'-)Literaturbestandes im Lesesaal vor. (...) Bei der Literatursuche ist zu beachten, daß im Falle des Zusammentreffens verschiedener Aspekte für die Klassifizierung im Allgemeinen folgende Rangordnung gilt: 1. die Person (Künstler bzw. Architekt) 2. der Sachbegriff (z. B. Kunsttheorie, Motiv, Gebäudetyp) 3. der geschichtliche Begriff (Epoche bzw. Stil) 4. nur bei Kunst: die Sparte/Gattung (incl. neue Medien) 5. die Region (Länder, Orte)."
