FISH Event Types Thesaurus

"A development of the ALGAO events wordlist. The thesaurus is an indexing tool to be used for recording archaeological and architectural investigative, data collection exercises; from intrusive interventions into the resource to non damaging survey events. The Event Types Thesaurus includes 128 terms. Of these, there are 83 preferred terms, 37 non-preferred terms and 8 non-index terms. The terms are divided into two classes: INTRUSIVE EVENT and NON INTRUSIVE EVENT.

"Elements of a monument relating to the built or buried heritage. English Heritage takes a leading role in setting standards for recording the built and buried heritage. By setting standards that can be adopted by everyone, we can make sure that all records are consistent. In other words, if everyone uses the same words to describe the same monument, archaeological object, building material, etc, then anyone using this common language can easily index, retrieve and understand these records.
