        "The Dictionary of Records and Archival Terminology is a guide for records management professionals, standardizing terminology to facilitate productive communication in the field of records management. Modern archival studies is a multidisciplinary discipline, intertwining diverse fields such as library and information science, history, public administration, law, computer science, and information science. Consequently, researchers in each field are publishing papers in a highly individualized fashion, leading to a chaotic use of terminology. The absence of specialized terminology dictionaries across disciplines has made standardizing terminology crucial for productive communication in the field of records management. Against this backdrop, the Korean Society of Archives and Records Management (KSR) initiated a dictionary compilation project to incorporate scholarly achievements while also sharing insights into the needs and challenges facing the field. Since 2004, with support from the National Research Foundation of Korea, the project has been underway. Interim results have been posted on the KSR website to gather feedback from researchers and students. This dictionary, supplemented by the findings, has been published. "

        "기록학 용어 사전(Dictionary of Records and Archival Terminology)은 기록관리 전문가를 위한 지침서로, 기록 관리 분야의 생산적인 커뮤니케이션을 위해 용어를 표준화 작업했다. 현대의 기록학은 문헌정보학, 역사학, 행정학, 법학, 전산학, 정보학 등 다양한 학문 분야가 연계된 복합 학문의 성격을 띠고 있다. 따라서 각 분야의 연구자들이 각개약진 식으로 논문을 발표하다 보니, 용어 사용은 아주 혼란스러운 상황이다. 특히, 분과학문별 전문 용어 사전이 부재한 상황이라 기록 관리 분야의 생산적인 커뮤니케이션을 위한 용어 표준화 작업은 매우 긴요한 과제가 되었다. 이러한 배경에서 한국기록학회는 학문적 성과를 수용하는 한편, 현장의 요구와 문제 인식을 공유하기 위한 사전 편찬 사업을 기획하게 되었다. 2004년부터 한국학술진흥재단의 지원을 받아 사전 편찬 사업을 진행해 그 중간 결과물을 한국국가기록연구원 홈페이지에 게시해 연구자 및 학생들의 의견을 수렴하였으며, 그 내용을 보완해 본 사전을 출간하게 되었다."
